Yohane Gadama

Yohane Gadama is a medical doctor from Malawi with interests in medical research, publishing, and leadership. Currently, Yohane is a medical officer with both clinical and managerial responsibilities at the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital. He also works as an editorial intern at the Malawi Medical Journal, where, in collaboration with others, he manages the peer-review process and the visibility of the journal. Following his passion for community engagement and health care access, Yohane volunteers at the Umunthu Foundation, a local NGO, where he has worked on community HIV programs and the delivery of youth-friendly reproductive health services. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS). He aspires to decrease the prevalence of non-communicable diseases in Africa through research and empower communities to find solutions to their health needs. Yohane is motivated by a genuine desire to improve the health and wellbeing of Africans. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, he will continue with his clinical work, intensify his volunteer work, and implement more community health programs that will make a positive difference. He also aims to acquire relevant postgraduate training that will help him realize his goals.
