Zanela "Zaza" Mokheti
Zanela “Zaza” Mokheti is a rising South African Gospel artist from Kwa-Thema, in the east of Johannesburg. Born on 29 May 1978, she started singing at the tender age of 5.With the passing of time, her passion for music grew with her. Upon completing her matric, Zaza enrolled for a course in music at Funda Community College, where she was introduced to many visiting artists.
At the age of 18, she worked as a vocalist for gospel greats such as Rebecca Malope, Solly Mahlangu and Keke, among others. Shortly thereafter she joined a musical theatre group called African mama and was soon gracing world stages in countries such as the Netherlands and France. Later she joined a UK-based theatre production Africa Africa and lived in London for a while.
Upon her return to Mzansi in 2007, Zaza joined Joyous Celebration. Her solo rendition of Namhla Nkosi catapulted to crowd favour and the song became a major hit on the Joyous Album that year. In 2010 she released her first album called Umoya Oyingcwele under Spirit Music and Masego Productions. The title track was nominated the Best Song at that year’s Crown Gospel Awards, proving that her vocal range was nothing to be sniffed at.

This was followed by a second album called Thank You in 2012 and a third, Imvuselelo two years later. In 2013, she was nominated for two Crown Gospel Awards – Best Gospel Artist and Best Female Artist. Zanela “Zaza” Mokhetia is best known as part of the platinum selling project Spirit of Praise. The equally successful Women of Praise project saw Zaza spread her creative wings by mentoring younger female singers and flexing her musical muscle as a producer.Zaza is also passionate about the young upcoming cograduates in our Country South-Africa she is involved in a motivational series in all TUT Campases by visiting them annually since from 2014 todate.

In 2015, Zaza took her most ambitious project yet, when she launched Zahza Holdings, a multi prolonged company made up of a record label, fashion and fragrance line as well as a foundation. On 3 September 2016 Zanela “Zaza” Mokheti recorded her first ever live DVD at the Soweto Theatre – a dream she is thrilled to finally realised. Her objective for the rest of 2016 and going into parts of 2017, is to promote her recently released CD & DVD Blowing the horn of chronicles. The Song Diphiri on the album, is currently on top 20 charts in most radio stations and also the album in on top 20 charts at Musica Africa.The album is nominated at the SAMA23 for the Best traditional Faith album.

Zanela “Zaza” Mokheti is rewriting what it means to be a gospel artist in South Africa in this era. She is spreading her creative wings and doing thing differently, which set her apart from the rest.
