Zanele Mabaso
Zanele Mabaso is a South African Youth Advisor at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and is the Southern Africa Regional Advisor for Girls Globe. She is also a policy adviser, an advocate for women and adolescent health, and a social justice writer with over three years of experience in the public and civil society sectors, specifically focusing on public health.
Currently, , where she focuses on providing innovative approaches and interventions aimed at influencing national and regional frameworks, strategies and policies addressing HIV prevention, adolescent health, gender equality, and gender-based violence.
Her academic interests lie in epidemiology and biostatistics, and she pursues these in her research for a Master’s Degree at Stellenbosch University. Zanele Mabaso is driven by the potential South Africa has to transform and thrive by adopting game-changing policies and implementing solutions-based interventions targeted at harnessing the overall demographic divide of young people, and investing in strengthening robust health systems, particularly for women and girls. Zanele aims to continue her work in regional and national public health with a focus on epidemiology and public policies.
