Zesizwe Simphiwe Ngubane
In 2009, Zesizwe Simphiwe attained her MbCHb from the Freestate university. In 2018, her FCP(SA) from the College of medicine, in 2019, her MMed( Internal medicine) from the Stellenbosch university and in 2022 acquired her certificate in cardiology, from theCollege of medicine South Africa as well as Stellenbosch University.
Zesizwe Simphiwe is a small town girl, who grew up in rural KZN, but worked extremely hard to build a name for herself in the Health Industry. She is currently working in private but is still a part of the Tygerberg Cardiology department on a volunteering basis and assists with outreach at Cardiology clinics at Helderberg hospital as well as Khayelitsha hospital on occasion as well.
She has always had a passion for the human heart and now has a passion for heart failure. In future, she’d love to start her own dedicated specialised heart failure clinic in the Helderberg basin in order to provide optimal care for these patients who need specialised care which is sometimes neglected.
Zesiswe’s first job was an internship at a King Edward hospital in Durban, KwaZulu Natal. She then moved to Dundee hospital for her community service thereafter spending a year there as a medical officer ther before moving to Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town. Whilst she was completing her time as registrar in internal medicine she participated in medical student education, which she found a great pleasure in as the passion for medicine and being a good clinician is instilled during these formative years. She qualified as a physician then moved on to undertake her Certificate in Cardiology, also at Tygerberg hospital. She was fortunate to receive a bursary from the cardiology department inorder to pursue this. She obtained her certificate in cardiology in June 2022 and officially joined Busamed a year ago & now has her own practice in the Private Hospital.
Zesizwe has a passion for educating, (this was also evident in her eagerness to work with students at Tygerberg Hospital) and is now a part of Hefssa SA where she gives talks to General practitioners regarding Cardiac Disease and the management thereof in a primary health setting.
Growing up, she used to love reading Sherlock Holmes nove;s which is partially responsible for her foray into the medical fraternity, cardiology particularly; as this allows her the possibility to not only solve a problem logically but also offer therapies that can possibly offer a cure.
She has made such a great impact in many lives with a passion for helping others that she imbues in her cardiology practice where compassion for her patients is her main attribute.
